In the Administration of President Ronald Reagan in
1988 on through Administration of President George H. W. Bush, Mr. Trueman
served in the United States Department of Justice as Chief of the Child
Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) in the Criminal Division.
For the year prior to this, he served as the deputy in CEOS. CEOS led
federal prosecutions of child sexual exploitation and abuse, child pornography,
and obscenity crimes. Pat also worked with the nation's 93 United States
Attorneys to coordinate federal prosecutions of the major producers
and distributors of child pornography and adult obscenity, both of which
degrade and victimize children and women. Pat's team put several of
the largest pornography producers behind bars and crippled their financial
enterprises with large penalties.
Since leaving the Department of Justice, he has worked with many municipalities
and community leaders providing advice on zoning and licensing ordinances
to regulate sexually oriented businesses. Such businesses are rapidly
spreading across the country. Strip clubs, porn shops, and even sex
trafficking operations are finding homes in unsuspecting cities and
towns. Many municipalities are turning to Pat Trueman for legal
advice in stopping or controlling these businesses.
Pat
also represents or served as counsel to many national and local non-profit
organizations such Alliance Defense Fund, Renewal Forum, and the Family
Research Council. During has 32 years as a lawyer, he has litigated
cases at all levels of the federal system, including in the United States
Supreme Court. He has represented clients before the United States Congress
and testified before Congressional committee several times. He has also
testified before state legislatures and city councils.
